Acto por el aniversario 75 de la protesta en repudio a la profanación de la estatua de José Martí

Acto 11 de marzo 2024Hoy 11 de marzo, cuando se cumplen 75 años de la profanación por un grupo de marines norteamericanos de la estatua de José Martí en el Parque Central habanero, tuvo lugar un sencillo acto en la entrada de la Biblioteca Pública Provincial Rubén Martínez Villena, inmueble ocupado en aquel entonces por la Embajada de los Estados Unidos.

Los estudiantes del Aula Museo del centro colocaron una ofrenda floral junto a la tarja que evoca este acontecimiento que provocó reacciones de indignación en la ciudadanía, la prensa e instituciones cubanas de la época ante la actitud pasiva de las autoridades republicanas.

Las palabras de Regla Perea, directora de la biblioteca, dirigidas a los alumnos recordaron cómo Fidel Castro, estudiante de Derecho de la Universidad de La Habana, se destacó en la jornada de repulsa.
