En el marco de las actividades conmemorativas por el 55 aniversario de la fundación de la Biblioteca Pública Rubén Martínez Villena, se expuso una muestra de documentos pertenecientes al fondo bibliográfico de la institución.

Fueron exhibidos documentos relacionados con la obra de Villena editados en la década del 30, como La Pupila Insomne; otros de la colección de Fondo Raro y Valioso, referentes a temas históricos tratados por destacadas personalidades como Jacobo de la Pezuela, Lo que Fuimos y lo que Somos ó La Habana Antigua y Moderna de José María de la Torre, Bibliografía Cubana del siglo XX de Carlos M. Trelles y La Habana: apuntes históricos de Emilio Roig de Leuchsenring; además de libros curiosos por su carátula o contenido y La Edad de Oro en braille.

A su inauguración asistieron alumnos del preuniversitario José Martí, a quienes se les explicó los objetivos de dicha exposición y se les dio a conocer otros documentos significativos existentes en nuestras colecciones.
